Notes for ESL teachers

Exclusive information for trainee ESL teachers

Notes for ESL teachers This is a short course created by Raymond Van Neste and is especially for ESL student teachers undergoing training for a TEFL, CELTA or TESOL qualification.  This course length is one – two hours.  The course will be available very soon on this website and an announcement will be made as soon as it is published.

Creation of a Short course

Raymond says: “I wrote articles and also created the short course to help student teachers because the training to become an ESL teacher can be and often is very difficult.

After I had finished my own ESL training (CELTA) I realised how it was necessary to have a data base or diary of notes close at hand.  This is because if I needed it I could go back and check to see things that I had forgotten or the correct procedures involved.  Also, I wanted to help ESL students to be able to have a place to go to which shows clearly what is involved and ‘how to do it’.”

Contents of the short course

The short course is currently not available to purchase but will be available very soon. It is based on two articles written by Raymond Van Neste: 1. Eliciting in the ESL Classroom.  2. Grammar, Vocabulary and Skills – notes for teachers.

This short course shows how the PPP procedure (systems) is carried out (standard for CELTA).  Also, how to present the target language (TL) with MPF and how this is also used for receptive skills.  Finally, productive skills / aims and outcomes / sub aims.
